MESSAGE FROM Marty Doyle,
TCRFC PRESIDENT 2021/2022
Dear Members and Friends,
It is with great honour and privilege to have been asked to do a second term of office as President of this great Rugby Club. As your President I will endeavour to represent our Club in the true traditional Terenure way.
I wish to extend a warm welcome to all our guests and visitors during the coming season 2021/2022. The last year and a half have been very difficult times for everybody. Let’s hope we have got through to the other side of the Pandemic and our lives can get back to some normality where we can enjoy watching and playing Rugby in a safe environment. To ensure safety for players members visitors and spectators Terenure College RFC has complied with all the standards required by the IRFU. We ask that everyone who enters the club adheres to these requirements too.
Congratulations to Stevie O’Neill who staying on as Captain of our first team, an honour that he truly deserves. To our head coach Seán Skehan and to all the players I wish you every success this season I would also like to take this opportunity to wish Junior Rugby, Under 20’s, Youths, Minis, Girls and Boys, Tigers, Captains, Coach’s, Managers, and all the volunteers a successful and enjoyable season. To all our players at every level and age group a safe and injury free season. I would also like to welcome the new members; I am sure they will have an enjoyable rugby experience with Terenure College RFC.
My sincere thanks to all our sponsors, to our principal club sponsors H & K International (David Bobbett) who’s support has been invaluable to Terenure College RFC and to Sherry FitzGerald Group and Dundrum Town Centre. We have had a fantastic response from our yearbook advertisers/hoardings considering what every business has gone through in the last 18 months, we would like to express our gratitude and thanks for their generous support.
The management committee works very hard to ensure that all aspects of the club operate satisfactorily, the members of this committee and various sub committees devote an enormous amount of their personal time to the work involved. A huge thank you goes to John Cadell (Chairman), Paddy Fitzmaurice (Hon Sec) who have decided to step down off committee after three years and more. It was my pleasure working with you both, thank you once again for all your hard work. Conal Curran is stepping down from his role as Treasurer but staying on management committee which is very much appreciated. I want to thank Conal for all his hard work as treasurer and I look forward to working alongside Conal again for the coming year. Also, a huge thank you to Colm Jenkinson (Trustee) who has been involved with many aspects of the club for over fifty years, Colm is also stepping down. We would like to welcome Paul Candon as incoming Chairman, Aoife O’Grady as Hon Sec and special congratulations to Aoife as our first lady officer of Terenure College RFC. We would also like to welcome Alan O’Dea as Hon Treasurer, Sinead O’Leary to the management committee and Tom Moloney (Trustee). You are all very welcome and thank you for your commitment to ensure Terenure College RFC is in safe hands for the future.
Our club has never looked so well thanks to our new facilities and club manager Cecelia Holohan, also to our Grounds Staff, Bar Staff and Administration Staff on a job well done! A big thank you to Evelyn O’Sullivan who is in charge of our club shop, thank you for keeping our club colours appearing all over the world. I would also like to welcome and thank all of the match Referees and assistant Referees for their commitment every weekend. Please remember that Terenure College RFC is a community club and everybody young and old is more than welcome. Finally, it is my wish that all our visitors and spectators to Lakelands during the coming season enjoy Rugby and friendships which is part and parcel of the game of Rugby Football.
We look forward to meeting you after the game in our clubhouse to allow us to show you our hospitality!
