Legends Series - James Blaney

Currently living: Terenure

Years playing with TCRFC: 1980-1986 (retired hurt – ACL)

Position: Scrum Half

Most memorable game: On the 3rd January 1984 we beat our noisy neighbours 15-13 at a packed and very wet Donnybrook to win our first Senior trophy since 1967. They could have done with a few more British & Irish Lions…..they only had the three (Fitzy, Deano and Wardy)!

Greatest TCRFC memory: Watching our U20’s dream team win the double/double. Memories…..plural.

Favourite teammate: My two No. 10’s. My best mate Ronnie Harrison (when the weather was dry) and my big bro Mick (when it was wet). Between the two of them you got a decent No. 10.

Most annoying teammate: Boo Boo Lynham  –  it took me two years to get his place on the 1’s.

Best player played with: Hitchy (Paul Haycock).

Current occupation: Solicitor

Pic attached from the 1984 final. l – r Me (kicking), Liamo (RIP), Matt Darcy, Jimmy Cleary and Dr. Bill Twomey.
