On behalf of the committee of management of Terenure College RFC, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and all our members, sponsors and friends a very Happy Christmas.

This year has been a very difficult one for everyone because of Covid-19 but thankfully the pharmaceutical companies have come up with a vaccine that will hopefully make the world a safer place. So please take care of yourselves over the festive season and stay safe for 2021.

Terenure College RFC is more than just a rugby club, it is also a community club. Every Sunday morning from 8.30am, our Minis, Youths and Tigers arrive for coaching. This year there has been a huge increase in membership. Once again thank you to all of the parents for their continued support and also a big thank you to coaches, managers and volunteers for their commitment every week. Our chairperson of Mini Rugby is Paul Melia. His dedication to the club every Sunday morning is invaluable. Thanks Chips for making it all happen. As they say – ‘You’re Some Man for One Man’

At this time of year, we normally would be halfway through our rugby season. As you are aware, we have only had a handful of matches in the Leinster Conference League and in the Leinster Senior Cup. Hopefully in January we will be back up and running again. We wish Sean Skehan and his team every success for the remainder of the season.

Our online Club Store was set up by Cormac O’Kelly and he has done a great job with it. We have seen orders from as far afield as Japan, Australia, USA and UK. Don’t be surprised if you are visiting any of these countries and others in the future and you see the Purple, Black and White of Terenure College RFC – you can let out a big shoutout – Come on the ‘Nure’. Thanks Cormac for all your hard work. It is much appreciated. Similarly, we are extremely lucky to have Evelyn O’Sullivan, who takes full responsibility for our Club Store. We cannot thank her enough for the endless hours she spends looking after everyone both home and abroad. Thank you so much Ev, the Club would be lost without you.

In recent weeks we have seen the return of the Budgie Bar & Grill. It has been a socially distanced yet very welcome return to the clubhouse. To all those who have helped in the organisation of this, many thanks and we will hopefully see similar nights in the club in 2021.

Once again, we would like to sincerely thank all our members and friends who made very generous donations to our fundraising campaign to keep our Club going for the 20/21 season. It was an enormous effort made by everyone during very difficult times.

We would also like to thank all of our sponsors for sticking with us and continuing their support. In particular to our principal sponsor, H & K International (David Bobbett) also Sherry Fitzgerald and Dundrum Town Centre.

I am very honoured to be your President in our 80th season. May I wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year. Please stay safe everyone. I look forward to seeing you all in Lakelands in 2021.

Warmest regards,

Marty Doyle
President Terenure College RFC
