May Bank Holiday Weekend

The long weekend at the end of April is going to be a busy one in Terenure College Rugby Football Club, with events planned from Thursday 28th all the way through to Sunday 1st of May.

This is a community event for all, so whether you love rugby, just have a passing interest or if you are just passing through on a wander with the dog, stop and have a coffee, a pint or a bite to eat in our Festival Weekend Food Village.

Here is what’s happening so start planning now!

Thursday April 28th – Club Dinner

The 2022 Club dinner will take place in the Club marquee. Tickets for, what promises to be a great night, are on sale now. Individual ticket prices are €50 or a full table of eight for €400.

Along with catching up with many friends and members, there will be speakers with special guest speaker Gunther Grunn (aka Barry Murphy), the President of the German Rugby Football Union lending his incite and vast rugby knowledge to proceedings. So you are sure to learn something!

Saturday April 30th – U13s Rugby Festival

After a two year absence the Under 13s All Ireland Rugby Festival returns bigger and better than before!

Starting at 10.30am, the U13s squad will host teams from all over Ireland in what promises to be an action packed day of youth rugby, with cup and medals being awarded that evening.

In keeping with festival activity, there will be a food village offering a wide variety, so there will be something on offer for everyone. Live Music will play throughout the afternoon to keep you entertained between matches too.

Saturday April 30th – Veterans Game

Following the U13s tournament, we will be wheeling out some of our ‘more mature‘ players for a vets game around 6:00pm, which should be entertaining too!

With many of the Club heroes from the past togging out once again to display their masterful skill and knowledge of the game gathered over many years of playing for the Club at various levels.

These lads will be playing at perhaps a more leisurely pace than the previous U13s matches but the rugby skills on show should be a sight to behold.

Make sure you hang around for this one…

Saturday Night – Live Band & DJ

On Saturday night in the Club Marquee, we will have top quality live music from Dublin band ‘Fallen Empire‘ playing and then a DJ playing late into the night.

Some of the vendors in the food village will be staying around too, until 9pm or so and the bar will be open late! So make sure you have your dancing shoes with you to finish off what will be a terrific day (and night) in the Club.

There will be NO PARKING AVAILABLE in the Club during these events.

Sunday May 1st – Tigers Tag Blitz

On Sunday May 1st Terenure RFC’s Terenure Tigers are very proud to host the largest ever Disability Tag rugby festival to be held in Ireland to date.

Thirteen clubs from across the province of Leinster will field sixteen teams at both Senior & Junior level. The winners of each category will be presented with the Terenure Tigers Fiachra Treacy Memorial Trophy in memory of one of our Tigers’ coaches who sadly passed away in January 2020. Fiachra was a fantastic coach who brought a smile to everyone’s face…. both players and coaches alike. He lives on within the spirit of the Terenure Tigers squad.

Prior to the Covid pandemic, Disability Tag blitzes were only occasional but were definitely unbelievably exciting days out for the players, their parents and the coaches. We are just so excited to be able to welcome so many players on the same day in May! This blitz in Terenure is on a scale unseen to date.

So we need one huge last effort on the last day. We realise limbs will be sore (and some heads too!) but our Tigers team need your sideline support from 12pm to 2pm. Each and every player is so proud to wear their Club jersey and loves to get the chance to compete…. and this will be an extra special day to do so!

Drop back to the Club for an ‘Up@Brews’ special or even the ‘hair of the dog’ and cheer on the Tigers in their tournament.

We are an inclusive community Club and that means everyone, so come back down for the two hour tournament and shout on the Tigers!
