Club President 2025 / 2026 – David Lynagh

Dear Members, Friends, Supporters and Visitors,

It is a great honour and privilege for me to be President of Terenure College RFC for the 2025/2026 season and one that fills me with deep sense of pride and gratitude. I look forward to representing our Club, working with the guidance and assistance of all of our great volunteers, to the best of my ability for the season ahead. I would also like to thank my family, Suzanne (the Club CWO), James (in U20s squad), Katie and Sam for letting me take
on this role for the season.

It gives me great pleasure to extend a warm welcome to everyone who visits Lakelands this season, from those that are regularly here, to those who are less frequent visitors like the opposition supporters, management, players and to every match official, I hope you enjoy the visit no matter how long it is for.

I would like to congratulate Luke Clohessy on his second term as Club Captain this season and wish himself and all of the 1 st squad, new Head Coach Carlos Spencer and his coaching ticket and all of the 1 st squad backroom team the very best for the AIL Division 1A this season. I wish this, of course, to all of our club teams and to all of the many volunteers
involved in the playing of rugby and having fun each week, and to the many players and match officials who have, and will, represent us outside of the our own club environment.

From a rugby and life perspective I learned a lot from coaches, mentors, team mates and friends over many seasons and I enjoyed every minute representing our fine community club. I hope that all of our current and future members, players, coaches, managers and all team and club volunteers get the same enjoyment, learnings and opportunities that I did. I hope that this season brings you all the success you want for our teams from the various Minis and Youth squads, the Terenure Tigers squad and on up through to the adult squad. Thank you all for your efforts and time given to rugby in TCRFC.

From an off the pitch perspective we will have some disruption, but also some opportunities, from the major club redevelopment this season. This redevelopment is a major investment in the future of our club and one that we are lucky to be able to undertake. While it makes the management and running of the club more difficult, it will be worth it in the end to have a modern welcoming clubhouse with great facilities of which the whole club can be proud.
Please continue to support the club during this disruption and also please continue to be conscious of our neighbours during this time. A big thank you to all of the Development team, and especially Shane Mallen and Pearse Lydon, for the professional manner in how this project was planned and is running and for the countless hours of work put in by all to get us to where we are.

To all of the sponsors who support the club in many ways from the Yearbook, hoardings, AIL lunches to name a few, I wish to express our sincere gratitude and a big thank you to you all for your support as we cannot do what we do without you and especially to Sherry Fitzgerald, sponsors of our U-20’s and our Tigers, Grant Thornton who sponsor our Youths and Minis, our Jersey and Kit Sponsors for this season, Sons, Albert Bow, Gerry Caffrey Motors, Goats,
Manscapped and Cronin and Co.

Lastly I would like to acknowledge thank all of the numerous other volunteers for their work, dedication, service and time given in the running of our great Community Club activities – our Club Officers, our Executive Committee under Maurice Downing, our bar staff, groundsmen, carpark, gate, shop and our office teams without whom our Club could not succeed and who work hard to ensure that our Club operates day to day. I do call on any member who can, to volunteer and help lighten the load!

Finally, I wish all our members the very best for the season, to the players an injury free season, to all the supporters a thank you for coming, to our visitors a big welcome and I look forward to meeting you all in our temporary/permanent Clubhouse for a chat during the season. We are all part of something bigger and our true potential will find us in the great work we are doing now and thank you all for your time and effort on the ground.

Onwards and upwards.

Yours in Rugby,

David Lynagh
